Modernising the energy sector after the implementation of the EU Association Agreement

A modern economy depends greatly on the performance and security of the energy sector, which underpins all industrial, agricultural and commercial processes. This is even more important for the Republic of Moldova, which inherited an inefficient energy system, dependent on imports of natural gas and electricity, and which over the last decades has lacked the capital investment needed to modernise the sector. In this context, the signing of the Association Agreement presents a unique opportunity to solve these problems, with an emphasis on implementing the obligations our country has already assumed within the Energy Community.
