How Much Does Our Domestic Healthcare System Cost?

One of the most important constraints facing the national healthcare system is ensuring sufficient financial resources. Given the ageing of the population and the growing demand for medical services, the financial sustainability of the system is at risk. Statistical data from recent years indicate rising morbidity among the population, alongside a decline in the total population. In addition, demographic results point to a growing number of persons insured by the state, such as pensioners. The Government pays much less for the health insurance of non-employed persons than the cost of the compulsory policy. Therefore, to avoid a worsening of the situation, transfers from the State Budget for non-employed persons must be calculated on the basis of the cost per person and indexed by the consumer price index forecast for the year in question. Without reform measures applied to the financing mechanism, a revenue deficit of around 9% will emerge by 2030, and by 2050 it will reach 26% (estimates assuming recent economic trends continue).
