A Budget Calendar Citizens Can Understand

“The Budget Calendar” is a tool that offers a complete picture of the budget process in the Republic of Moldova. For the public budget to meet citizens’ priority needs and for budget funds to be used transparently, it is important that the budget process itself be transparent. Transparency means that citizens are informed in good time about events in the budget process, have access to budget documents, and that all conditions are created for the wider public to participate at every stage of the process. The interactive Budget Calendar module was developed in an effort to help stakeholders understand how the budget process works in the Republic of Moldova, and to facilitate access to key documents and involvement in this process. The Budget Calendar reflects 5 stages of the budget processes for the budget years 2012, 2013 and 2014. You can access all the published budget documents. You can also see which stage the budget process has reached for each active budget cycle and what the upcoming events are. By clicking on the name of a document, you can access the main documents of the budget process. Similar information is also presented for 2012 (because the budget cycle of that year has not ended) and 2014 (because it is already being planned). Each document carries a label that indicates how the documents were published: on time, late, or whether the documents are yet to be published. Thus, as the Budget Calendar shows, the publication of the Medium-Term Budget Framework 2014 – 2015 is delayed. Data collection and analysis: Victoria Vlad. See the Budget Calendar.
