Local Coalition for Budget Transparency Established in Soroca

The coalition's members will take an active part in drafting and approving the municipal budget decision for next year. As a consultative body of local civil society, one of its key tasks will be to ensure greater transparency in decision-making, so that the action plan reflects the proposals and needs of as representative and diverse a group of residents as possible. At the first meeting, members were briefed on working methods and tasks.

The initiative is part of the project “Transparent Budgets and Active Citizens for Sustainable Development”, implemented by the Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup” with support from the Embassy of the Netherlands in Bucharest under the MATRA programme. The local partner, the DACIA Youth Resource Centre, serves as secretariat and liaises between members and the Soroca Mayor's Office and Municipal Council. New members may join by submitting a written request to the secretariat; the contact person is Ion Babici.
