Citizens can estimate their contributions to the national budget with the Taxpayer Calculator

The calculator shows a citizen's contributions to the main areas of public spending, including Education, Industry, Agriculture, Culture, State Debt, Justice, Science and Environmental Protection. The allocation of National Public Budget expenditure is abstract and does not take into account the identity or place of origin of the taxpayer using it.

Dumitru Budianschi, programme director at Expert-Grup, said the tool was created to help people better understand their personal financial contribution to the country's budget. He added that as citizens' awareness and understanding of the subject grow, so will the Government's responsibility for spending public money. The service was developed under the project “The budget process in the Republic of Moldova: Monitoring transparency and promoting public control”, financed by the Soros Foundation Moldova, Good Governance Programme.
