Workshop nr. 6, for the expert community: Enhancing Moldovan expertise with Georgian and Armenian perspectives on countering disinformation

Eastern Europe Studies Centre is pleased to invite Moldovan expert community to participate in an online workshop dedicated to the topic of combating disinformation in Moldova as part of the project “Building Strategic Communication to Counter Russian Disinformation in Moldova.”
This online event will take place on September 13th, Friday, 11:00-13.30 (EEST/Chisinau time). It is part of a series of six workshops where specialized experts from Moldova, Lithuania, Georgia, Armenia and EU agencies will share their knowledge with journalists, state stakeholders, and the expert community on the “Platform for Strategic Communication to Counter Russian Disinformation in Moldova.”
- The online workshop will explore the nature of disinformation in Georgia and Armenia, with a focus on the main techniques and narratives used by Russia and pro-Russian forces in these two countries. Speakers will explain the different forms and sources of disinformation their countries are currently facing and describe what measures are taken by Georgian and Armenian authorities and/or other stakeholders, such as opposition forces, civil society organizations, and the media.
- During the event, Moldovan public officials, journalists, civil society organizations, and foreign diplomats will have the opportunity to interact with Mr. Giorgi Kandelaki, researcher and project manager at the Laboratory for Research on the Soviet Past (Sovlab), and Tigran Grigoryan, director of the Regional Center for Democracy and Security.
- The workshop discussion will take place in English.

Project Details: The online workshops are part of the project titled “Building Strategic Communication to Counter Russian Disinformation in Moldova.” The project runs from September 2023 to December 2024 and is implemented by “Expert-Grup” in partnership with the Eastern Europe Studies Centre in Vilnius, with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
