Invitation: Launch of the study ”Political Clientelism and Local Public Investments: Evidence, Risks and Mitigation Policies”

The Independent Think-Tank ”Expert-Grup”, in collaboration with the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE), Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and Eastern Europe Studies Centre (EESC), is honoured to invite you to attend the launch of the study „Political Clientelism and Local Public Investments: Evidence, Risks and Mitigation Policies”.
Since the public finance management at the local level depends to a large extent on the public finance management at the central level, the project conducts a series of activities aimed at increasing the accountability of the central government in this regard. One important instrument in this regard is the analysis that addresses the issue of political clientelism: allocation of public funds from the centre to the local level, based on political affiliation and/or loyalty. Thus, the team of experts, on annual basis, will test if the political affiliation of LPAs influences how much money they are getting from the central budget.
Overall, the report provides robust evidence about the phenomenon of political clientelism and formulates a series of policy recommendations for addressing it.
The event will take place online, via Zoom.us Platform, on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 10:00 (AM) (Chisinau Time).
The working language is Romanian, but simultaneous interpretation into English will be provided.
