The impact of the Russian wine embargo: estimation of the economic impact

This study begins by assessing the current situation in the Moldovan winemaking sector and by identifying key constraints and problems affecting the development of this sector. Further on, using a Computable General Equilibrium model, the author estimimates the systemic impact of a potential new trade embargo of Russian Federation against Moldovan alcoholic products. Results of the simulations show that such a new shock would certainly add to the woes of the sector, however, it is not expected to be a catastrophic one.
