National Human Development Report 2014: “Private Sector: A responsible partner for transformative change and human development?”

Implementation period: December 2013 – December 2014;

Funded by: UNDP - Moldova;

Project goal: The rationale of NHDR 2014 consists of implication of the private sector, along with central authorities, in the long-term and transformational development of the Republic of Moldova. Therefore, we seek the identification of the means and strategies private companies will be able to contribute to this goal.

Main activities:

• National Human Development Report 2014 “Private Sector: A responsible partner for transformative change and human development?”;
• On the basis of the preliminary research outline, agreed and consulted with the core national stakeholders, develop the first draft of the thematic chapters
• Actively participate to all consultative meetings in order to collect and incorporate relevant suggestions and improve the first draft of the Report;
• Submit the final draft of the Report for peer review and finalization of the Report;
• Actively participate to the organization of all consultative meetings and the launching event;
• Ensure broad dissemination of the core findings and recommendations of the Report through national media;

Main outputs and outcomes:

• National Human Development Report 2014 “Private Sector: A responsible partner for transformative change and human development?”;
• Round Table involving the main stakeholders;
• Developing infographics and media products relevant to the report;
• Active dissemination of the core findings and recommendations of the Report through national media;

Project impact:

The NHDR 2014 will contribute, on the medium term on:

• Identification of the key-elements required by the private sector in order to contribute to the long-term development of Moldova;
• Catalyzing the discussions related to optimization of the commercial, fiscal and labour legislation in order to offer optimal conditions for the private sector in creating jobs and economic growth;
• Promotion of the importance of the private field in modernizing and re-invention of the country;
• Increasing the usage of statistical products corresponding to European standards;
• Improving the Government's activity in adopting the main international trade treaties;
• Identification of flaws and areas of future concern for decision-makers and general population related to their time use which should be addressed by appropriate interventions;
• Mainstreaming of gender dimension into national strategic and policy papers and strengthening the national monitoring and reporting system in gender sensitive areas in the Republic of Moldova.
• Establishing an "ecosystem of change" that will include private sector, the Government and associate NGO's.
