Project title: Promoting a Model of Efficient and Transparent Economic Governance in Moldova (first year);

Implementation period: January 1 – December 30, 2009;

Funded by: Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation;

Project goal: Encourage public discussions and interest on economic policy, enrich these discussions with independent policy analysis and forecast and promote best policy solutions to economic and social problems via open dialog with relevant Government and society actors;

Main activities:

• Provided the Government, the private companies and citizens with sound, independent and relevant economic analysis and forecast of the economic policy;
• Monitored the economic policy and raise awareness of the Government, private companies and citizens regarding the most important economic trends and risks;
• Encouraged unbiased and solution-oriented debates on the economic policy in order to generate new ideas to appropriately respond to new economic risks and opportunities;

• Policy Study “Constructions Sector: looking for measures for a new take-off”, author Adrian Lupusor; presented and discussed at a workshop with participation of 6 participants from the policymaking community;

Project impact:

Project outputs have influenced the economic policy of the new Government in a positive way. The fact that the new Government invited in November 2009 the EXPERT-GRUP to participate to the elaboration of the Governmental Program for Economic Stabilization and Growth is a testimony of high professional standards EXPERT-GRUP achieved with this project. New policy solutions generated as part of analysis in the “Real Economy” and “MEGA” helped the new Government to deal with critical challenges that Moldovan economy is facing.
